About SaunAlmanac

SaunAlmanac is an independent journal about saunas — how they are built, heated, maintained and used well. We write for the Canadian climate, where a sauna earns its keep for most of the year.

What we cover

The Almanac is organised into eight clusters: sauna types, heaters, stones, building, wellness, maintenance, comparisons and buying guides. Each article is meant to fully answer a real question — how to size a heater, which stones survive repeated heat, how ventilation actually moves air through a hot room — with tables, step-by-step guidance and honest pros and cons.

How we work

We are a reader-first publication. Our guides reference specific products and brands when it helps a decision, but we are not a shop and we do not sell saunas, heaters or accessories. When we compare brands, we aim to describe them accurately and note where each one fits — not to push any single manufacturer.

Where a guide touches on electrical work, structural building or health, we point readers toward professional advice and local code. Sauna building and bathing carry real risks; our articles are a starting point for research, not a substitute for a qualified electrician, builder or physician.
